I shared the inspiration behind this design in our last newsletter, but to put it simply: it's for those of us who are still waiting for our moment.
What’s meant for us will come, in due time.
So today, take the steps that make your dreams inevitable.
Start with Intention
Yesterday, I hosted a free basketball camp with three sessions: one for 4th–8th graders, one for high school athletes, and one for college/pro players.
As expected, there was a wide range of skill levels. Still, I took all three groups through a similar progression, focusing on how to structure an effective workout. The format was straightforward:
Mindset + Intention Setting
Ball-Handling + Movement Warm-Up
Form + Balance Shooting
Situational Actions
Live Play
Cool Down
Reflection on Our Intention
The biggest emphasis? Setting your intention. There's something incredibly powerful about deciding who you're going to be in a workout. It gives your training direction, purpose, and clarity.
How you train is more important than what training you do.
I also had each athlete write down a specific skill they wanted to experiment with and improve during the session, something to focus on beyond just completing the drills.
The most inspiring part? Regardless of age or level, intention made a difference.
4th graders were training with purpose. D1 high-major commits were doing the same. And both were growing faster because they had direction.
I’m telling you: it’s a cheat code.
Own your development. Set clear intentions. If you do, your growth will be exponentially faster…no question.
Upcoming Atypical
Well I dropped a 1v1 video with my guy Mitch and I talked a little trash to the Next Chapter…
You can watch it here:
It was a friendly 1v1 and we both were not going overkill as to not get injured right before our overseas seasons. Even with the nature of the 1v1, the video made some noise and caught the Next Chapter’s attention. B Ellis (the main TNC commentator) made a reaction video to it. A Milly (another TNC commentator) actually sent me a DM on Instagram and said that they want to set up a game. It’s not going to be able to happen this summer, but next summer… you can count on it. I’ll be making my debut in the 1v1 scene.
It should be a cool experience.
As for the YouTube video dropping this Sunday, it will be a full week of weight room training for basketball players similar to the one I dropped last summer, but with some adjustments and new knowledge.
It will be a huge resource for your offseason programming.
Final Thoughts
Setting your intention is a super power.
Deliberate practice beats random practice every single time.
You have the power; you just need to exercise it.
Stoked for you guys to get a chance to purchase these new T-shirts, they are my favorite design to date.
Everything will work out, in due time.
