New Environments
Atypical Audit Vol. 7 Weeks of 8/9-8/22

First off, apologies for going dark this past week… this time of year is always a whirlwind for me. Early August is when most overseas hoopers report to their new teams, and I’m no exception. I landed in Lithuania six days ago and have been on the move ever since.
Between medical checks, meeting my new teammates and coaches, and adjusting to an entirely new environment, it’s been non-stop. A lot of moving parts, a lot of newness—and the quiet pressure of figuring out my role on a new squad.
It’s been a fun (and slightly chaotic) week.
Let’s talk about it.
Check Out the Newest Drop 🔥
On August 9th, I dropped the newest T-shirt in the Atypical “Principles” Collection, “In Due Time”. This shirt is an affirmation for those of us grinding and not seeing immediate results that everything will workout… all in due time.
Check it out here (US, Canada, Australia and EU Options):
I appreciate all of you guys.
Your support does not go unnoticed.
Own Your Environments
As someone who prides myself on consistency and showing up as close to my best self as possible, how I navigate my environments is critical.
I see environments as amplifiers: they can elevate your high moments or intensify your low ones. And even when you’re in a good place, mentally, physically, emotionally, or spiritually, if your environment isn’t supportive, it becomes that much harder to sustain.
That said, we never have full control over our environments, and I use the plural intentionally. Throughout a year, a week, or even a single day, we move through many different spaces, each with varying levels of influence and health. Some environments we choose, some we don’t. But all of them shape us in some way.
Whether it’s the structure of your workplace, how the people around you interact with you, or even something as subtle as the lighting in a room, every aspect of your environment is impacting you in some shape or form. Once we understand this truth, we can begin to intentionally evaluate what’s serving our best self as well as what’s holding us back.
As I enter completely new environments here in Lithuania, team, locker room, apartment, even the country itself, I am hyper-aware of how each space might affect me. The first step is awareness. The second is identifying what we actually have the power to change. The third is taking action to shape those elements in a way that supports our well-being, our consistency, and ultimately, our success.
To put it simply: how you settle into a new environment plays a huge role in whether you thrive or struggle.
So let’s own it in three steps:
Bring your awareness outside yourself and into the environments around you.
Reflect on what you can actually control in each space.
Construct or adjust those controllable parts to support your best self.
Right now, I’m living between steps two and three by getting creative in how I shape the spaces around me to set myself up for success.
If you’re feeling stuck, about to enter a new chapter, or even if you're in a strong rhythm already, I’d encourage you to pause and reflect on your environments. Look for small tweaks that can move you forward instead of pulling you back.
Upcoming Atypical
Since I’m stepping into so many new environments right now, I’ve made the decision not to lead with the camera and content creation… at least not right away. I want to set the tone that I’m here to play basketball, and to play it at an extremely high level.
Now, I know from experience that I can balance both seamlessly, creating content while performing at my best, but not everyone sees that from the start. With that in mind, my plan is to slowly introduce the camera into the mix, with the organization’s approval, and then really take you along for the ride as the season unfolds.
In the meantime, there will be a Sunday upload coming featuring my final week in the U.S. and the flight to Lithuania. Just a heads up: for the first few games, we might need to get a little creative with how we share the story.
That said, I’ve been more active on Instagram lately with short-form content, if you want to follow along, you can check some of it out here:
Lots of cool content on the way for you guys that I cannot wait to share.
Final Thoughts
New environments should be looked at as opportunity.
Opportunity to build something that will facilitate the best version of yourself.
Take advantage.
6 months from now you will be thanking yourself.
Love you guys,
Trey
